New Music Round Up: 9/1/18
Welcome back to CelebMix’s New Music Round Up, the very first of 2018! Whilst we expected January to be a little quieter on the music front, we couldn’t have been more wrong as so many of our favourite artists have started the year with a bang.
Justin Timberlake made his long awaited comeback with ‘Filthy’ before also announcing his new album, Man of the Woods. Liam Payne and Rita Ora dropped ‘For You’ taken from the new Fifty Shades Freed movie, whilst Bruno Mars and Cardi B took us back to the 90’s with ‘Finesse (Remix)’.
Charlie Puth released his Boyz II Men collab ‘If You Leave Me Now’ to make up for the fact that his new album release date has been pushed back. Other new releases also came from Tonight Alive, Cupcakke, Lilly Ahlberg, and Kristian Kostov.
As usual, we want to share even more new music with you. Here’s a round up of some of the best-of-the-rest releases from the past week as well as a few tracks which may have slipped under your radar over the Christmas period.
Clean Bandit and Julia Michaels – ‘I Miss You’ Yungen Remix
At the end of last year, Clean Bandit and Julia Michaels teamed up for the incredible ‘I Miss You’. The track has been busy climbing the charts worldwide and has since garnered over a 100 million streams on Spotify. However, it has just been given a new boost in the form of a remix from ‘Bestie’ rapper Yungen.
Alex Aiono featuring T-Pain – ‘One At A Time’
Alex Aiono dropped his latest bop ‘One At A Time’ at the end of last year, and the song sees him team up with the legendary T-Pain. The singer has also shared a slick 360 degree virtual reality video for the song. ‘One At A Time’ follows on from ‘Does It Feel Like Falling’ and rounds off a huge year of hits for Alex.
Loïc Nottet – ‘Go To Sleep’
Belgium’s 2015 Eurovision Song Contest representative Loïc Nottet released the video for his new single ‘Go To Sleep’ just before Christmas. Directed by Sidney Van Wichelen, the poignant video captures the power of love and friendship and will also make you yearn for the festive season again.
Caitlyn Scarlett – ‘Happy When’ (Miko Waye Remix)
Indie pop star Caitlyn Scarlett’s track ‘Happy When’ has been given an exclusive remix by rising Afrowave/dancehall producer Miko Waye. Taken from her forthcoming EP, Red Tape Vol. 2, Miko adds his own twist to the song. Speaking about the remix, Caitlyn said: I get a lot of people sending in remixes of my songs but when I heard Miko’s one it immediately caught my attention. It gives a whole new flavour to the original!”
BØRNS – ‘God Save Our Young Blood’ featuring Lana Del Rey
‘God Save Our Young Blood’ is the latest track to be taken from BØRNS’ forthcoming album, Blue Madonna, due for release on January 12. The track features Lana Del Rey and was chosen as the first Beats 1 World Record of 2018. BØRNS will be heading out on a North American tour which kicks off later this month.
Youngr – ‘Ooh Lordy’
‘Ooh Lordy’ is the latest release from Youngr, taken from his new collection This Is Not An Album. The collection includes all of his released tracks from the past year as well as some older material. ‘Ooh Lordy’ showcases Youngr at his effervescent best, and is the perfect warm up to the huge year he has ahead, starting off with a US and Canadian tour which includes a key support on Matoma’s One in a Million tour.
