Khushdil Shah Facts

  • Having made his domestic cricket debut in 2014, Khushdil had first come into the spotlight only during the 2018–19 season of the Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup. He was the leading run-scorer for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas team in the competition, having scored 463 runs in just 7 matches.
  • A dynamic middle-order batter, his performance in the shorter formats of the sport has been much more impressive than the longer version, evidenced by the fact that he had scored his runs at a stellar average of 46.77 (including 8 hundreds and 11 fifties) in 60 games in List A cricket compared to a dismal average of 25.78 (including 2 hundreds and 7 fifties) in 29 games in First-Class cricket, as of October 2021.
  • In March 2019, he was named in his home province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s squad for the 2019 edition of the Pakistan Cup (Pakistan’s premier domestic one-day cricket competition). He was a key performer for the team that went on to win 3 of their 4 league games and eventually the final by 9 runs.
  • In the 2nd of the team’s league matches in that tournament, against Punjab, he had smashed 154 runs not out in just 96 balls to help his team successfully chase down a mammoth target of 342 runs in just 46.3 of their allotted 50 overs. He was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance. In the last of the team’s league games, against Sindh, he had again scored a hundred, off just 66 balls, in a crucial 9-run win, that had helped the team reach the final. He was named the ‘Player of the Match’ again.
  • In October 2020, during the 2020–21 season of the National T20 Cup (Pakistan’s premier domestic T20 cricket competition), he had scored the then fastest century in a T20 match by a Pakistani batsman, in just 35 balls.
