Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Joins YouTube
The YouTube family has just gained another member; professional wrestler and actor Dwayne Johnson! He made the announcement via a trailer for what seems to be a sci-fi/action movie, which quickly turns into a sketch of Dwayne realizing he should start a YouTube channel.
The trailer was shown at Vidcon and introduced by none other than Lilly Singh, aka IISuperwomanII. If you know anything about Lilly, you know that she is the biggest fan of The Rock since watching wrestling as a kid. Lilly met Dwayne for the first time about a year ago, and he has since made an appearance in her documentary A Trip to Unicorn Island. Lilly was super excited to welcome Dwayne to YouTube and has already hinted that there is a collaboration in the works, possibly for a sketch video.
Dwayne seems to have some exciting projects in the works for his new channel, which has already racked up close to 70,000 subscribers. With the help of his production company Seven Bucks Digital Studios, his channel will feature an original action series and other content from his production company. The channel will also include Dwayne’s own videos (imagine adding The Rock to the list of daily vloggers you watch-but don’t get your hopes up)! Another highlight of the channel will be collaborations with established digital stars and upcoming talents as well.

Aside from Lilly, some other YouTubers have shown their support for Dwayne.

The Rock is not the first celebrity to move from mainstream media to digital media, specifically YouTube. Celebrities such as Karlie Kloss and Amy Poehler have started their own YouTube channels with original content.
Dwayne’s channel will officially launch on July 18th. However, Dwayne has already been very active in the comment section of his trailer video and has replied to many fans already. He also posted this comment:
Congratulations to Dwayne for the launch of this new project! We can’t wait to see what exciting videos you have planned! Click here to subscribe to Dwayne’s channel!
