Beyonce to Receive Vanguard Award
Beyonce is no stranger to the limelight, and it’s part of the reason she’s the recipient of the Vanguard Award this year at the MTV Video Music Awards. The 32-year-old singer has officially ‘made’ it according to this award. It’s an award that his given to only those who have the most successful careers, and it encompasses all of her career, from the start of her singing career in the 90s with Destiny’s Child to her incredibly successful career as a solo artist.
The VMA’s are set to be a big night for Queen B. She’s not only going to accept the Vanguard Award, she’s also potentially going to accept 8 other awards she was nominated for – which is more than any of the other artists nominated for awards this year. She’s also going to find some time during the show to perform, though it’s unknown yet what she will perform.
It’s been a busy year for the most powerful woman in the industry. She just wrapped up the domestic portion of her On the Run Tour with her husband, Jay-Z, and she’s been in the press almost every day. Rumors have been going crazy since the now infamous video of Jay-Z and Bey’s sister, Solange, fighting in a NYC elevator following the Met Gala in May leaked.
Every time she sings a lyric, the press wonders if it’s a hidden meaning or clue as to her relationship with Jay-Z. Every Instagram or Twitter photo she uploads is scrutinized for some sort of hidden message. It just goes to show that she really has made it; literally every move she makes is watched, discussed and analyzed. It must be irritating for the superstar, but it’s definitely proof that she’s still the most relevant person in the music industry today – and so is her new award.
